What do you need from me when submitting for one of your services?
-
When submitting for Pencils:
-
For Character Design: As much written detailed information about your character, everything from ethnicity, weight, height, built, costume, hair (length, color, etc) Eyes, powers and anything else you can think of, the more details the easier it will be for us to design a character to your liking or the one you visualize in your head.
-
For Pinups & Covers: If the character already exists then please provide a reference of the character and a blurb of your idea of what pose or what should the character(s) be doing. If there is no design of the character then as much detailed information and there may be an extra charge for character design.
-
For Sequentials: A script needs to be submitted, the script must be detailed, besides a dialog there should be Panel descriptions, sound FXs and much more. If you need an example of what a proper script should look like please check out this link: http://www.blambot.com/comicscript.shtml
-
-
For Inking: A high quality scan of the pencil work. It must be straight and clear. Please do not take a picture with a phone and send it over, we will not accept this. It must be a proper scan.
-
For Coloring: Files must be high quality. Inks must be clean, make sure all pencil marks are erased properly before scanning. Ideally I would prefer to be provided with a color reference of the character(s), however if there isn’t any, it will take a little longer at first while a color scheme is selected and provided to you for approval before we proceed.
-
For Lettering: High Quality files and a script is required. Script must have been edited, we are not editors, therefore we will not make corrections to your script and that includes spelling mistakes. In order for us to speed things up we normally copy and paste from your script into the bubbles. Having said that if there are spelling mistakes they will transfer over. So please make sure you are happy with your script before providing it to us. If you require an editor let us know, we have some contacts that we can provide you for Editing services.
-
For PDF File Creation: Files must be high quality, we will not upscale any files, the image quality degrades and we will not be responsible for a comic with bad quality images. The size should either be the exact size required for the comic (This depends on where you are printing) or higher. We currently have templates to format the PDFs to Kablam, Create Space & Comixology. If you are publishing or printing anywhere else, I will require either a Template from the printers or the page dimensions, and this includes margin size and trim size, so we can create a template. For PDFs it is usually better to use TIFF files to have a better high quality print, however some places prefer to have JPGs. So please make sure you make yourself familiar to what are the requirements of your preferred printers, distributors or publisher and let us know the details when submitting so we can make sure that the PDF created will not be rejected. One more thing now that we mention rejection, I don’t know how I can stress this as important, but please make sure that your pages follow the template or guidelines required for your desired printers, distributors or publishers, that includes making sure that all text and logos are within the live area of the template, if the guidelines are not followed, they reserve the right to reject the PDF. For example if you are using Kablam as your printers the image below is the template for standard size comics, if your pages do not follow this template, Kablam reserves the right to reject the PDF and will request it to be fixed and a new PDF created and resubmitted.
