We Start March With Awesome Updates!
Hello All!
Hope you are all doing well! We have some awesome art and updates to share.
First off the image above is a color commission for Crazy Monkey Ink. It is for the cover of their comic project Deathsquad Zero #2. This was an awesome commission to color. The pencils and inks are done by a Samir Simão. It is a wonderful piece of artwork that displays well all three characters and had some nice details for me to pick out and make them shine. I am super proud how this piece turned out and will be an addition on my wall for sure.
I don't do this often, however I would like to show you a comparison of the inks vs flats and finally the rendering stage of shading and lighting FX. Click the image below to enlarge.
As you can tell there is quite a difference between the three. As usual when I color sometimes I don't have an idea what I am going to do with an empty background. What I like to do at that point is start flatting out the characters and once they are done I create the background first so I can see if I added some light sources that I need to deal with for the rendering process. I have to say I like the dynamic background I created, it is powerful but subtle enough that it does not take away from the main three characters.
Deathsquad Zero #2 will be released soon by Crazy Monkey Ink. So keep an eye out for this baby.
As for projects created by LUMI Art Studios. We are slowly progressing. As you know we give priority to our commissions. However I am so excited to show you the pencils to the cover for our latest project Evolution.
The pencils are by our very own awesome artist Lubisan! I have to say I have my work cut out for me once it is inked. Lots of little people in there. But this is going to be fun.
I have been busy with commissions as you can tell and have not been able to color page 4 of Inner Beings #2. I also have more commissions that I know are coming my way for both coloring and lettering. It seems I will have to separate a day a week in my calendar dedicated to work on our own projects. That will also depend on what the deadlines are for the commissions. But these projects need to move forward. I will think of something. On the meantime please enjoy the awesome artwork I have just posted for you all.
Thank you for dropping by!
